The Etsy Demand Calendar: When Buyers Actually Search, by Niche

Etsy niches differ enormously in seasonality. Halloween concentrates 57.4% of its annual Google demand into one month, October, at 75.5 times its typical month, while stationery and baby barely move at all across the year, just 1.1x between their busiest and quietest months. ListingDen measured monthly Google demand for 200 buyer keywords across 20 Etsy niches over a trailing 12 months, US/en, via Google Ads data through DataForSEO, in July 2026. Below is the full calendar, niche by niche.

Methodology

How we measured the calendar

We picked 20 Etsy product niches and 10 real buyer keywords per niche, 200 keywords total, then pulled 12 months of monthly Google demand for each keyword, US/en, via Google Ads data through DataForSEO, measured July 2026. Each niche's monthly figure below is the sum of its 10 keywords' Google demand for that month. These are Google demand numbers, not Etsy's internal search counts: Etsy has never released that data to anyone, so Google demand is the closest available proxy for buyer intent, labeled as such everywhere in this study.

Three tiers of seasonality

Not every niche has a season worth planning around

EXTREME · 7.7x to 75.5x

Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Graduation

"Five niches concentrate a third or more of their annual Google demand into a single month, swinging 7.7x to 75.5x between their busiest and typical month."

MODERATE · 2x to 3.4x

Teacher Gifts, Apparel, Jewelry, Candles, Coloring Pages

"Teacher gifts, apparel, jewelry, candles and coloring pages swing 2x to 3.4x across the year: busier in season, but never dead the rest of the time."

STEADY · 1.1x to 1.7x

Digital Downloads, Ceramics, Tote Bags, Wedding, Crochet, Pet Products, Home Decor, Wall Art, Baby, Stationery

"The remaining ten niches barely move: digital downloads swings just 1.7x across the year, and stationery and baby move only 1.1x, effectively flat."

Four surprises in the data

Peaks don't always land where you'd guess

Wedding peaks mid-summer, not engagement season

Wedding Google demand peaks in July at 267,100, not in the November-to-February window most sellers treat as engagement season.

Crochet peaks in January, not the holidays

Crochet Google demand peaks in January at 272,000, after Christmas gift-making is already over, not during it.

Digital downloads peak in August

Digital downloads Google demand peaks in August at 1,119,720, driven by resume and back-to-school templates, not a holiday at all.

Christmas demand collapses fast after November

Christmas Google demand hits 2,242,200 in November, 24.2 times its typical month, then falls to just 27,920 by April, its quietest month.

When to list

List before the climb starts, not after

In a seasonal niche, Google demand doesn't jump straight to its peak month, it climbs for a couple of months first. Halloween shows the pattern clearly: demand is already lifting off two full months before its October peak, and by the time the peak month arrives it's too late to catch shoppers who bought early.

MonthGoogle demand
July741,340
August2,623,890
September8,239,980
October (peak)17,955,590

Google demand almost quadrupled from July to August, then more than tripled again into September, before hitting its October peak. The rule of thumb: find your niche's peak month in the table above, then have your listing live at least two months ahead of it, before the climb, not after.
